Pudahuel (Mapudungun "place of pools/water" or "place where seagulls gather") is a census-designated commune of Chile located in Santiago Province, Santiago Metropolitan Region. Santiago's international airport Comodoro Arturo Merino Benítez is located there. The commune is serviced by the library Biblioteca Pública N° 11 "Jaime Quilan" which administered by the Municipal Social Development Corporation of Pudahuel.[6]

According to the 2002 census of the National Statistics Institute, Pudahuel spans an area of 197.4 km2 (76 sq mi) and has 195,653 inhabitants (96,328 men and 99,325 women). Of these, 192,258 (98.3%) lived in urban areas and 3,395 (1.7%) in rural areas. The population grew by 41.8% (57,713 persons) between the 1992 and 2002 censuses.[3]
As a commune, Pudahuel is a third-level administrative division of Chile administered by a municipal council, headed by an alcalde who is directly elected every four years. The 2008-2012 alcalde is Johnny Carrasco Cerda (PS).[1][2]
Within the electoral divisions of Chile, Pudahuel is represented in the Chamber of Deputies by Patricio Melero (UDI) and Gabriel Silber (PDC) as part of the 16th electoral district, (together with Colina, Lampa, Tiltil and Quilicura). The commune is represented in the Senate by Guido Girardi Lavín (PPD) and Jovino Novoa Vásquez (UDI) as part of the 7th senatorial constituency (Santiago-West).
